A Bit About Me

I'm Sonja Bollnow,

I am a daughter, friend, partner, carer, human and eternal seeker.

In addition, I am a full-time therapist, coach and facilitator (for 20+ years) with a vast array of modalities. I’m dedicated to holding space for your journey towards wholeness, guided by intuition and a touch of German attention to detail.

I love working with people from all walks of life and have served many inspiring individuals, including celebrities, leaders, and peers. I support those who know their purpose and those who feel lost, encouraging them to open their hearts and start anew despite challenges. Many of my clients are leaders seeking to make an even greater impact.

Why I Do This

My work is the by-product of my own self-healing. And the subsequent calling to being of service to humanity and this beautiful planet we live on.

Many years ago, I came to a time in my own life where I reached the total end point within me, where it felt like I no longer existed. I stopped altogether. It was a point of life or death. I chose life, real life, and from there I began the journey of coming home to my Self. Curiosity, desperation and the Universe’s “co-incidences” kept me following that path. Step by step.

Coming home to my Self was about finding meaning, purpose and love for life and myself. A life with depth, a deeper engagement within myself and the world around me. It was a natural conclusion for me wanting to offer others that possibility, the possibility to remember again, too: living heartfelt and actioned from within. Close to my heart are especially those who are as lost or uncertain, down or unhealthy, desperate or unhappy like I was. Because there is a better, more empowered way forward. There always is.

I found healing and Self in many different places, and the things that worked I just naturally felt like I wanted to learn how to implement them with others.

And through that journey I had great people around me (still do) who saw in me what I had not seen yet. They truly inspired me to be a Visionary for others. I love the moment when a person takes that vision, which was in them and theirs all along, and owns and lives it.

Who Am I Of Service To?

I love working with people from all walks of life and have had the privilege to be of service to many amazing and inspiring beings. From those who come to me truly with their last hope, having tried seemingly everything. To leaders who are so dedicated to those they serve that they have lost themselves somewhere along the way. The couples who wish to create a deeper and more loving relationship. Those with addictions; people who have such great power and intent when channeled in a new direction. Working with men, I am inspired by their processes and the way they navigate through the world, and who in their depth and sensitivity are often totally underestimated.

Each person I meet, regardless of gender or where they are at, is an inspiration to me. Celebrities, leaders, peers, people who knew their purpose and those who had no clue and just felt numb. So many who despite challenges would dust themselves off and start again, despite feeling hurt opened their hearts wide and fearlessly again. Many who were already leaders in their field and wanted to be of even greater service. People who are real change makers and honor that self-care is other-care. Lovers of life and haters of life, people on top of the world or crushed down with anxiety, depression or addictions. Business entrepreneurs and –leaders, parents, the leaders of our future generations, seekers of meaning and spiritual guidance, down to earth skeptics and many more. Amazing people, all of them! I feel blessed to share in their journey.

When it comes to groups, I love working with those who are ready to do some deep work. Transformational teams who are writing the future in their various fields. Retreats with individuals who are ready to align to their heart and bring forth the highest version of themselves into that combined space, and then their life outside. Professionals like me who wish to add more tools to their own work with clients. People who are committed to showing up for themselves, for the group, and therefore for the world.

I am also very much in service of animals (horses in particular, as mine are at times co-facilitators in coaching others). Not only offering animals healing but having a dedication to facilitate people becoming more connected with these beings. Knowing that when people find that connection, they will recognize the wisdom and sentience. It is through this deeper understanding that people can hold animals in greater understanding and love.

Professional Qualifications

I have trained and qualified in many modalities because I recognise that there is not one single answer for every person and every situation. Many of these I trained in having experienced the benefits of them in my own life and wished to be able to offer that to the people I worked with. Some of the qualifications that guide me often in my work include:

  • Clinical and Alchemical Hypnotherapy

  • Systemic and Family Constellation Therapist and Facilitator

  • Regression-, Emotional Clearing-, and Past Life Therapist

  • Holistic Health and Wellness Coach

  • Reiki Master (teaching since 2000)

  • Equine Facilitated Therapist and Coach

  • Counsellor

  • Other qualifications include; Neuroplasticity, HeartMath, Somatic Healing, Touch For Health, Psych-K plus more. And in my earlier lifetime, studies and diplomas in marketing and business

Aside from qualifications I also bring to my work my various life experiences:

  • Living in multiple continents and countries

  • Founding, operating and managing my own businesses; from a high level fashion shoot production company managing 40-70 team members at a time servicing magazines and catalogue companies around the world, to co-managing a multi million dollar film processing company, to then running my own private therapy/coaching business and hosting workshops, trainings, retreats since 2000.

  • Working out of the prestigious Golden Door, Elysia in the Hunter Valley of NSW and my sessions being one of the most sought after offerings there.

  • Being a guest presenter and facilitator at multiple events, retreats and trainings worldwide

  • Founding Equine Reiki and teaching countless people how to offer this beautiful modality to their horses offering trainings up to Master level.

  • My more than 10 years as a trained palliative care volunteer, my time as an animal rescue volunteer

And then of course there is my own life’s journey which has been a big and tumultuous one at times, but which led me to where I am today. It has given me the ability to really meet people where they are…. because I most likely have been there before…

My Story

Bred and born in Germany in 1964 to the perfectly imperfect culture and family. Two young parents; a father of drivenness, a mother of naivete and emotionality, both though with much heart and passion, and instrumental grandparents of unconditional love and inspiration. My heart overflows thinking of them all.

A divorce with additions of several stepmothers and a stepfather, who later became my adoptive dad and rock in all the turmoil. A lot of moves across the country, setting the stage for being comfortable and at home anywhere.

Joys, but also heartaches, abandonment, certainly love and fun, trials and tribulations, all part of my upbringing. In my late teens I escaped it all to travel and work the world for a few years.

Once back home I studied Marketing, and my career soon took me to work overseas, mainly in the U.S. For years I pretty much lived out of a suitcase, being booked for over 300 production days/year with stressful 16–20 hour workdays. I was young and had the energy but was on a path of total self-abandonment. Not much that was heartfelt and meaningful was part of my life then.

In 1992 I made the move to Miami, Florida where most of the fashion shoots were held at that time. There I entered a relationship, learned how to be a "stepmother” to two young children, reduced my production days to start another company with my partner and became even more numb to my real Self. Looking back now, I can see that I withered away with all the things that were not my real calling, that had no heart and soul for me.

Sometimes life has to get tough before we are willing to look inside, to take inventory and to allow our True Self to shine through and make the necessary course corrections. I certainly know! Being German, with a certain stubbornness and stoicism, lol, it had to get REALLY bad for me to get into action for myself. I started to suffer again from severe depression, anxiety, weight issues, knew how to numb myself expertly with “stuff”, being the people pleaser for everyone but myself and had too many physical ailments and illnesses to list (all a replay of my childhood and teenage years).

At almost rock bottom, it one day hit me: Something had to change and that “something” was me. Who would think that a poem could make such a difference! But I give credit to “The Invitation” by Oriah Mountain Dreamer which somehow woke me up, touched the core in me and became a true turning point. I read it, and still do to this day, as the invitation to MYSELF!

I started working on myself and left my partner, my job, my house, my visa status, my savings, my everything to buy a Dodge van and travel the U.S. Wilderness for 8 months. Yup, another escape but that time it was an escape (in)to me, into something I had long forgotten. I took charge of my life and started the quest of finding myself in amongst all the things and parts I had thought I “should” be. It was damn hard at times. And at the same time it has been the most wonderful coming home to my real Self, to my heart and calling – a journey I am still on and realigning to.

A journey that brought me to then being of service to others, first as a healer, then therapist, coach and facilitator. My Soul’s calling. My way of living heartfully.

Since 2002 I feel privileged to call Australia my home. What an amazing country to live in! (Yes, love brought me here.)

I live on acreage and in my spare time love spending time with friends, my herd of horses and anything in and around nature. Music, meal creations, dance, travel, sailing, swimming, self-development, reading and meaningful conversations are my other passions. My not-so-secret love affair is called “Stella”, my most adorable Wolfhound X and co-facilitator in crime.
